HDT and L3Harris Showcase Dual-Arm Robotic System to UK MOD

SOLON, Ohio – February 10, 2025 – HDT Global (HDT), a leader in advanced robotic systems, is pleased to share that its Adroit® Dual-Arm Manipulators were featured as part of L3Harris’ robotic demonstration hosted by the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), an executive agency sponsored by the U.K. Ministry of Defense (MOD). The demonstration, which took place in a MOD training facility, highlighted the system’s dual-arm capabilities, showcasing its agility and precision in handling complex operations in hazardous environments.

The demonstration marked a significant milestone in HDT’s collaboration with L3Harris, a leader in technology solutions for defense and aerospace. Adroit dual-arm manipulators, integrated into a large T7 robot, offer unparalleled dexterity and strength for missions requiring intricate movements and high force lifting. Controlled by L3Harris’ intuitive haptic controller, the dual-arm system enhances the robot’s ability to perform delicate and sensitive operations, such as unscrewing pipe bomb endcaps or manipulating hazardous material.

HDT’s Adroit arms bring a unique set of capabilities to the battlefield by providing superior control and near-human dexterity alongside their modular design. These features allow the robotic system to engage effectively and reduce the time required to neutralize complex threats. Easily mountable and capable of lifting over 180 pounds, the arms can handle a broad spectrum of tasks, from hazardous explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) operations to precision handling rescue missions.

“We are proud of the role that our Adroit arms played in this demonstration,” stated Tom Van Doren, HDT Global’s President of Robotic Systems. “This collaboration with L3Harris and Dstl further cements our commitment to advancing technology that enhances the safety and effectiveness of defense personnel. The ability to adapt and respond to evolving threats is essential, and our Adroit Dual-Arm Manipulator provides just that: the combination of strength, flexibility and intuitive control.”
